The type of peat that is used for energy is:

• Black peat: In relation to white peat black peat products have a high dry bulk weight, a higher moisture content percentage, and a lower water retention capacity

There are three main forms in which peat is supplied as a fuel:

• Sod peat: Slices of peat that are cut by hand or machine and dried in the air
• Peat pellets: Peat pellets are peat in granules. It is produced from milled peat, which is dried and compressed before pelletization. No additives are used in the production. Peat pellets combine the strengths of peat and pellets. They have a high calorific value, supplies are reliable and prices are stable. Therefore, peat pellets provide an excellent alternative to fossil fuels, particularly for large-scale space heating. In power plants they are an excellent auxiliary fuel. Peat Pellets can also be used to replace coal at coal-fired power plants.
• Peat briquettes: Small blocks of dried and highly compressed peat with the same application features as peat pellets
